AVE_150_logo_colorIn honor of Ave Maria Press’ 150th anniversary (next week!) I decided I would launch a special blog for Catholic writers, bloggers, and authors who are interested in learning more about Catholic publishing. That is, working with a traditional Catholic publisher. If that’s you . . . you’re in the right place!

And because at least 50% of publishing is about building relationships (the other 50% is about actually putting your fingers on the keyboard or notepad and letting them work their magic), I’m hoping that this will become a place where other generous authors will pitch in with their own ideas, experiences, and success stories, so we can all learn from each other.

Do you have a question for me? Contact me at hsaxton(at)nd(dot)edu.

  1. Thank you for the invitation to contact you regarding catholic based publishing.

While I have many questions I will simply ask one for now. Is there an editorial committee available for screening book ideas (assessing merit or potential ) and if so, how does one contact them?

In the sweet heart of Mary, thank you for your time.

    1. Each publisher posts guidelines on their website with directions about how to submit a proposal. Your first step will be to research different publishers (Ave Maria, Our Sunday Visitor, Word Among Us, etc.) and see if they publish the kind of book you want to write. Then submit a query letter to the address in the website. Good luck!
